PhonicsPlay Limited is run by myself, Rosanna Springham, and my husband, Justin Springham.
I worked as a teacher and leading literacy teacher for many years. A series of career choices and coincidences put me on a steep phonics learning curve and taught me the incredible impact that it can have on children’s learning. A large part of my work has involved developing phonics teaching in schools and helping to support other teachers. In the past, I have specialised in teaching phonics to older children who missed out on quality phonics teaching in their early years. I am currently taking some time out of teaching to further develop this website and care for my two young children.
I have studied software development with the Open University and combined my passion for phonics with my interest in computing and developed this website. I developed all the games, resources, art work and text on the site.
My lovely husband, Justin Springham, takes care of the customer service side of the website. If you ever need to contact us, he will do everything he can to help you out.

What are the benefits of subscribing?
No annoying adverts - Once you have logged in to the subscription website you will find that there is no advertising. Relax in the knowledge that any children using the site won’t be bombarded by advertisements.
Exclusive access to the newest games - Many resources (the newest and the best) are only available to subscribers.
Individual subscriptions for just £12 (inc VAT) per year Your login and password allows you to access all the new resources and advertisement free areas for one year.
Teachers - As an individual user you are very welcome to use Phonicsplay on your home or classroom PC (and share it with your class using an interactive whiteboard) but please don’t share your login details with anyone else.
Parents - Sign up as an individual user and you and your family can access the site without worrying about any annoying adverts. You do not need a separate subscription for each family member and you may sign up from different computers (for example if you go on holiday) but please make sure that your login details are only used to access the site from one computer at a time
Whole school subscriptions for just £120 (inc VAT) per year Your login and password allows you to access all the new resources and advertisement free areas for one year.Your login and password allows up to 35 people to access the site from the school at any time (ie several classes could be playing games on their interactive whiteboards whilst another class of children are all accessing a game in the computer suite).
Teachers and TAs can reclaim some of their precious time Whichever way you look at it phonics is very demanding in terms of resource preparation time. One 15 minute session can easily require grapheme flashcards, tricky word flashcards, buried treasure game resources (dustbin, treasure chest, coins) and sentence cards. This is clearly very time consuming to create and, in my experience, as soon as you’ve made them they go missing anyway. This website can take away huge amounts of this workload by letting you use interactive versions of resources where the only preparation you will need to do is a couple of mouse clicks. The site also provides a lot of ready prepared printable resources as well.

Of course we can! Please go to the Lost Password page, enter you username or email address and your details will be emailed to you. If you haven’t heard back from us soon, please check your junk email folder.
Can I sign up without a PayPal account?
Yes you can! There is no need to set up an account. Simply find the section on the PayPal page that is headed “Don’t have a PayPal account?” and you will be able to enter your credit or debit card details without setting up an account.
My school wants to subscribe but we don’t have a school credit card. What options do we have?
Individual subscriptions must be paid for online with a debit or credit card. Sorry!
However, if you are a UK school and wish to take out a whole school subscription then there are a number of payment options available.
Cheque - Print out the whole school subscription order form and send it with a cheque made payable to PhonicsPlay Ltd to the address on the order form.
Purchase Order - Print out the whole school subscription order form and send, fax or email it to us with an official school purchase order.
BACS - We are very happy to arrange payment by BACS.
Do you accept official school purchase orders?
We do accept purchase orders for whole school subscriptions from UK schools. Please send purchase orders with the completed Whole School Order form.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept purchase orders for individual subscriptions or for whole school subscriptions from schools outside the UK.
Do you accept payment by cheque?
We do accept payment by cheque for whole school subscriptions from UK schools. Please make cheques payable to PhonicsPlay Ltd and send them with the completed Whole School Order form.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept payment by cheque for individual subscriptions or for whole school subscriptions from schools outside the UK.
Do you accept payment by BACs?
We are happy to arrange payment by BACS for whole school subscriptions from UK schools. Simply email us at: [email protected] and request this.

Are you VAT registered?
Yes we are. Our VAT registration number is: 117 0926 28
Customers who sign up online will not automatically be sent a VAT receipt. If you require a VAT receipt, please request one from [email protected] and we will be happy to supply one.
Can I talk to you on the phone?
At the moment we don’t have a PhonicsPlay phone number. This is because during normal working hours we are often not available to answer the phone as we have to fit working on PhonicsPlay around other work commitments and caring for our two young children. Emailing us at [email protected] is the easiest way to communicate with us. However, if you do wish to speak to us directly, please email us requesting a phone call and leaving your phone number and we will phone you back as soon as we can.
I’ve changed my mind. Can I cancel my subscription?
In accordance with our Terms and Conditions, following the purchase of a subscription you have a fourteen day cooling off period during which you may cancel the subscription and receive a full refund. In order to cancel the subscription, please contact us by e-mail at [email protected]
At any point during your membership you may cancel the membership by contacting us by e-mail at [email protected] However, after the fourteen day cooling off period, members who have pre-paid for a yearly membership will not be given a refund for the unused portion of their membership.
Why haven’t I received any confirmation emails from you?
We automatically send a confirmation email to you when you first sign up. If you haven’t received this email then there may be a problem. As long as you know the username and password details that you created then you will still be able to access the site but we may not be able to contact you to notify you of any important changes.
Try checking your email junk folder in case the email has been wrongly put there.
