About
I have been a teacher for 11 years and a leading literacy teacher for around 5years. I have done a lot of work developing planning and resources for teaching phonics and delivering phonics training to teachers. I specialise in teaching phonics to older children who missed out on quality phonics teaching in their early years. I am very passionate about spreading the message that phonics works, it works fast and it's loads of fun.
I am also very aware that parents often tell me how confused they are about modern teaching methods (let's face it, they change so fast lots of teachers are pretty confused too). I hope that this site can answer some of the questions that parents may have about phonics teaching.
I have always loved computers and have studied computer programming and software design with the Open University. All of the games on the site have been created entirely by me. Please let me know if you find any problems so that I can correct them asap. Also if you have ideas for games that would make your phonics teaching easier then please let me know and I will see what I can do.
It is my aim to keep the majority of the resources on the site freely available to all. I had hoped that advertising on some pages and an Amazon based shop would provide enough funding to support the site. However, as the site has grown, costs have also grown and changes have had to be made. As a result, there is now a new area of the phonicsplay site just for subscribers. This subscription area contains all the familiar resources from the free site but also has two major advantages:
Firstly, the subscription area is is free from advertisements. Secondly it gives subscribers access to all the newest games (at least 2 brand new resources will appear each month), well before they become available on the free site. If you like the site, please consider a subscription to help the site continue to grow and develop.
